Meeting Notice
March 7, 2025
The Gulf Council will host a virtual meeting beginning at 6:00 PM EST on March 31, 2025, to gather feedback on proposed changes to the vessel position data collection program for the federally permitted Gulf shrimp fishery. This action aims to replace the old cellular electronic logbook program (cELB) that ceased data transmission in 2020 due to expiration of the 3G network, with a new platform. The Council has selected a preferred alternative and would like your feedback before taking final action during its April Council meeting.
The Gulf Council recognizes that the use of new vessel position monitoring devices may have financial implications on businesses. The program will continue to be administered by National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), and the Council will work closely with NMFS and stakeholders to facilitate the transition.
More information on the proposed changes and a link to provide online comment can be found here.
